Yu Yu Hakusho: Season One: Episodes 1-28 Anime Review

Okay here we go guys! I don't own anything except my opinions! I have read the entire manga (Read it, It's epic!). Yu Yu Hakusho belongs to its original creator and to Funimation... I think. Let's get started!

Ok let's start out with something that bugs me the most, how much time they spend on Yusuke's "trial" or whatever it was he had to do to be brought back to life again... Jeez... took up the whole first DVD... Nothing gets really good until the seventh or eighth episode when the demons start coming in, along with the two fan favorites Hiei and Kurama. I'm really not a fan of slow starts. I want to be engaged from the first minute at least.

The characters are all funny and interesting in their owns ways. Yusuke, our main character, has had a hard knocks life and is a frequent no show at his middle school. He's pretty much the school thug and no one talks to him, except love interest and school over-achiever Keiko and friend/rival Kuwabara. Pretty typical backstory for him. Kurama is a fox demon in a human body, it's difficult to explain so go look it up or watch the show. Hiei is a fire weilding demon.

A lot of this season is spent on developing Yusuke's powers and strength and fighting evil demons to protect the Spirit and Human Worlds. We meet a couple of villains who come more into play in the next season, as well as the adorable ice maiden, Yukina.

I personally consider the Four Beasts arc a favorite of mine, especially considering I watched Fushigi Yuugi. The villains were very well done and fairly interesting, but they had flaws. One or two were too weak a few were too strong. I don't want to spend five episodes on one fight. It gets boring and causes the viewers to lose interest. If a fight goes over two episodes, f*ck you (no offense to anyone who does like it)... It doesn't occur too often in the first season; but it does happen.

I admit to only watching the dub, but the voice acting wasn't too bad, save for a few flaws. Yusuke's English voice actor, Justin Cook, has a fairly recognizable voice and can be easily identified in his roles in other anime as well (Hatsuharu in Fruits Basket and Totomaru in Fairy Tail). For Kurama's voice actor, John Burgmeier, you can't help but laugh when you realize he's the voice of the perverted Shigure in Fruits Basket. But despite inducing several giggles on my part, John gives a wonderful voice to the smart and quick thinking Kurama. Hiei's voice sounded far too manly for the childish looking character, that is until he takes off his cloak and shirt, then it's all but perfect for the angry and battle hardened demon.

This first season gets a fool hardy 3.9 out of five due to an extremely slow start and overly drawn out battles.

Nana Anime Review (SPECIAL PREVIEW)

Keep in mind that NANA IS NOT MEANT FOR AUDIENCES UNDER 17-18!!! It contains drugs, sexual situations, sexual content, nudity and many other things not for children! You have been WARNED!
I may make references to the manga, but remember this isn't the entire review and it might change as I watch more. Please enjoy this review~!

Okay to start out; let’s talk about the voice acting. I love the choice in voice actors for this anime especially that of Nana Osaka (Nana), it’s exactly what I imagined for the sexy lead singer. And Ren’s voice actor gave him the perfect swoon-worthy voice he needed! The one voice I really hate is that of Nana Komatsu (Hachi). I know she’s supposed to be the giddy girly girl, but having such a high voice really isn’t necessary to get that point across. I also have a slight dislike for the voice of Takumi. I don’t really have any particular reason, I just don’t like it. All other characters are voiced pretty well.

So that’s a small preview of my review of Nana. Sorry it’s so short but I’ll add more for each week I’m delayed, alright!

With love~

Say "I Love You" Review

I rarely watch subtitled anime (I have reasons) but ‘Say “I Love You”’ is one of few anime that I’ve actually bothered to watch subbed before it came out in English.

So to get started let’s go with my biggest pet peeve with the English dub, Mei Tachibana’s voice. They chose a far too girly voice of Mei and I feel it betrays her character a bit. The other voices were pretty good in my book, especially that of Yamato Kurosawa. His voice was pretty much what I dreamed of it to be.

The animation is fairly good and it’s easily watchable. Not much to say on the animation with this one…

Now the best for last, the Plot. This is one of my top 5 favorite anime for quite a few reasons. The story line and the characters are very easy to relate to. This plot deals with many of the teenage insecurities. Weight problems, anorexia, bullying, betrayal, self-confidence and self-esteem, being yourself, popularity and romance. Say “I Love You” deals with it all. This anime is a beautiful slice of life that anyone can relate to.

Another reason this anime is one of my favorites is the character interaction and development. No one in this anime goes without character development. And it doesn’t just happen, you get to watch them realize their true feelings and find themselves.

I have to give two reviews for this, the English dub and the English sub. The dub gets a pretty high 4.5 out of 5 mainly due to Mei’s English voice actor. The English sub gets a perfect score of 5 out of 5.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock/ Harlock: Space Captain (Special Movie Review!)

I found this gorgeous little gem of a movie on Netflix over the weekend and watched it because I was bored and home alone for five hours. I liked from the very start and decided to give it a little review for you guys! (On Netflix the title is "Harlock: Space Captain" for some reason...).

Let’s start with the animation. The details were mind-bending to a point where in some frames, everything looks almost real… Everyone, from the raggedy space crew to the handsome Harlock to the gorgeous alien woman Mimay, is beautifully detailed and well animated.

The voice acting was quite on point. I nearly fell in love with Harlock from just his voice alone. I looked up his voice actor, David Matranga, and was pleasantly surprised that he voices Bertholdt Hoover in the Attack on Titan dub!

The plot… Oh lordy the plot. There’s a lot of things that you need to remember from the opening narration, although it gets repeated probably a bit more often than necessary. We learn quite early on where almost everyone stands. The plot somewhat ebs and flows throughout the movie and there’s some pretty major plot twists later on! I think the plot was thought out pretty well and not just hashed together.

All in all, it gets 5 out of 5 from me and has officially become my favorite animation.

Angel Beats Review

Okay, so here's my next review! I'm sure most of you have watched this, or have at least heard of it, but it's Angel Beats.
First off, I loved this anime to pieces, makes me cry every time.
The animation is top notch and each character is brilliantly designed! The voice actors were definitely well chosen for each character. Even those who aren’t very partial to dubs would love this one!
There’s not many negatives that come to mind when I think of this anime, but if I had to choose one it’d be that I wish they’d spend more time on the back stories of the other characters! They never even really tell us how most of the characters died, but hints are given for a few… The anime leaves a lot of things a mystery.
Each character is highly unique and has their own very special personality.
All in all I give it 4/5.
Well that’s all for now!
~With Love,

                               Tyler H.
(PS I highly suggest reading the manga! Lots of back stories for a lot of the characters and tells how the SSS started! It's called "Heavens Door".)

Kill la Kill Review Episodes 13-24

Just minutes ago, I finished this anime. I wish I could I'd take back my entire first review!

This is probably one of the best anime I've ever seen! I went into these episodes with no hope for a legitimate plot line, but it hit me straight in the face.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, reached bad*ss levels achieved by no others! Character growth galore! Especially for Ryuko and Satsuki.

Once you get past the choppy animation and migraine inducing sounds, it becomes a great anime. There were plot twists galore in this half of the show! Some that surprised even me! Talk about mommy and daddy issues!

This will be an anime I recommend to everyone, except the faint of heart.

In the end I can only give it 4.5/5 due to the fact that it took  so long to get the plot started.

I wish i can be more detailed but I'm already on the verge of giving out major spoilers!

Kill La Kill Episodes 1-12 Review

Good morning/afternoon/evening everybody! Here's my third anime review!

Okay to start us off, I've been trying to find a legitimate plot line for twelve episodes, but there doesn't really seem to be one. The animation is choppy and a bit jagged and the voices are loud. This is almost migraine inducing when watching for long periods of times.

The main characters, Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiyuin, are bad*ss but way too overly sexualized. The side characters are hilarious, and each have their own comedic personality, especially Ryuko's best friend Mako Mankanshoku. The jokes are highly sex and nudity based and are funny but crude all the same.

The anime's fight scenes are very well done, but are far too often too short.

Overall it's a great anime, but due to flaws, I only give it a 3/5 stars.

Well that's all. I'd love suggestions on anime to review!

Kaze no Stigma Review

This anime is definitely in my Top 20.

The animation is very well done, as is the voice acting. The voice for the main male character, Kazuma, was absolutely swoon-worthy.

The characters are very relate-able in their own way. For example, Ayano is an over-stressed teen having difficulty balancing family responsibilities with time for friends, something I expect most of us to be able to relate to.

The story line does stray every once in awhile, but never for long. The show has it's comedic moments. The jokes are a bit dirty at times, but laugh worthy all the same.

The fight scenes aren't very detailed at times, and often very short.

Also, this anime makes me question whether or not i should be shipping incest... D*mn you Kazuma...

In total, 4/5.

Fate/Zero Review

Now to start off this blog, let's do one of my favorite anime: Fate/Zero.

The animation is top notch, but the fight scenes can be a bit, how do I say this.. boring. I love the characters and watching them work together and plot to win. Yes some characters do die (not telling who ;) ) and some of the deaths are outright heartwrenching. The end is such a plot twist that you'll never see it coming!

All in all it's a great 3.9/5

I also suggest watching the movie Fate/Stay Night, which occurs after the events in Fate/Zero!
